Xcel blog 007_Tapware Products

An initiative by Xcel Industrial Supplies Pte Ltd, Triple Eyelid studios has teamed up with Soh Ju Hu on a series of furniture and products primarily made from reclaimed pallet wood.

BasinMirror

Design:

Tuscani Tapware is collaborating with Soh Ju Hu to redesign a series of Tapware products with the use of reclaimed materials. The simple basin cabinet were put together with pieces of pallet carefully joint together with wood biscuits and wood glue. Each surface were then planed to achieve flatness and parallel to its opposite surface. Wide mirror frame with good grain matching creates this rustic look on a simple piece of mirror. Smoothly sanded up to 1000 grit sandpaper. Both the cabinet and mirror frame are applied with Minwax's Helmsman Outdoor Spar Urethane finishing (clear gloss).

Sustainability:

All timber used in making these tapware are heat treated pallet pine wood collected in Singapore. They are all ready to be discarded if not collected. After collection, pallets are dismantled into planks for sawing and planing to achieve its usable profile which we could then safely use to design.

Material:

Reclaimed pallet pine timber with heat treatment.
